It's been years in the making!
Many of you know I have been working on an eye cream for a very long time. I struggled to create a formula I was happy with.
Until now.
Introducing the new Youth Revival Eye Cream! Formulated for tightening, lightening dark circles, reducing puffiness and fine lines.
I searched for ingredients that would give the "instant tight" like you see in videos all over social media. Unfortunately the only ingredients I could find that had those claims were all synthetic. And I will not add synthetic ingredients to my products no matter what.
Instead I found ingredients that will actually stimulate elastin and collagen around the eyes. All those instant tight creams even say it's a temporary tighten. Which of course is nice but wouldn't it be nicer to improve long term?
As I've learned about how to improve the skin around the eyes I also learned about how much the weakening of the muscles around the eyes, and the eyes themselves, are cause of many eye issues. As we age the muscles get weak. So just like any other muscle we need to keep them strong. One way I have learned to do this is by a simple exercise. Open your eyes as wide as you can and hold for 2-3 seconds, relax, then repeat. Do this 10 times. You can do it a few times a day. I was starting to think I needed reading glasses, but after doing this for the past few months my eye sight has improved. I'm not good at remembering to do it all the time, but I can literally feel a difference when I do. It's easy to do anywhere, even driving!
Lets first talk about what causes those under eye bags. The under eye area is actually called the lower lid. Aging is the most common cause of under-eye bags. As you age, the skin and muscles around your eyes weaken and lose elasticity. The supportive fat pads under your eyes can then shift and cause the area to appear puffy. Under-eye bags can also be an inherited trait. If members of your family have eye bags, you may be more likely to develop them, even at a younger age. Don't worry, even if genetics are your cause you can still heal it! Lifestyle can be a factor too. Things like smoking, alcohol, lack of sleep, dehydration, and allergies can make bags worse.
Dark circles under the eyes are caused by a combination of factors, including genetics, aging, and lifestyle habits. Some individuals, particularly those with darker skin tones, are genetically more prone to periorbital hyperpigmentation, which is an excess of melanin (pigment) produced around the eyes. As you get older, the skin around your eyes loses fat and collagen, becoming thinner and more translucent. This thinning makes the bluish-red blood vessels underneath more noticeable. Thin skin can also be inherited. Just like bags, lifestyle can cause darkness under the eyes.
Fine lines around the eyes are caused by a combination of natural aging, sun exposure, repetitive facial movements, and lifestyle factors. The skin in this area is particularly delicate and thin, making it one of the first places to show signs of aging. As you age, your body produces less collagen and elastin, the proteins that provide firmness and elasticity to your skin. The natural decline of these proteins causes the skin to lose its structure and allows fine lines to form. The skin around your eyes is naturally thinner than the skin on the rest of your face. It also has fewer oil glands, which makes it prone to early wrinkling and dehydration. Tugging or pulling at the delicate skin around the eyes when removing makeup or applying products can cause damage and lead to more pronounced lines.
As you can see, it doesn't matter which issue you have, or if you have them all, the cause is the same. Which the good news is, the solution is the same.
I can't help with lifestyle causes other than to suggest you drink a minimum of 64 oz of water each day, limit alcohol intake, get plenty of sleep, and most importantly stop smoking!
The thing I can help with is tightening and lightening the skin under the eyes, improving elastin and collagen production and reducing puffiness and fine lines around the eyes!
Here are the active ingredients and their benefits:
Niacinamide (vitamin B3) can help lighten under-eye pigmentation by interfering with the process that transfers melanin (the pigment that gives skin color) to the skin's surface. This action results in a brighter, more even-toned under-eye area. As an antioxidant, niacinamide helps boost collagen and elastin production, which firms and plumps the skin. This can lead to a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, including crow's feet.
Prickly pear seed oil contains a high concentration of Vitamin K, which helps strengthen capillaries and minimize the appearance of dark under-eye circles. The brightening effect also helps with hyperpigmentation. Rich in essential fatty acids, including linoleic acid, and Vitamin E, prickly pear oil boosts the skin's elasticity and stimulates collagen production. This can help to plump the skin and reduce the visibility of fine lines and wrinkles, including crow's feet.
Meadowfoam seed oil is rich in long-chain fatty acids that form a protective barrier on the skin to prevent transepidermal water loss. This keeps the skin under and around the eyes hydrated and supple. By replenishing lost moisture, meadowfoam oil helps to plump the skin and smooth the surface, which makes fine lines and wrinkles less noticeable. The oil is lightweight and absorbs easily into the skin, helping other beneficial ingredients in your eye cream or serum penetrate more effectively.
Hibiscus seed oil is often called the "Botox Plant" for its natural youth-boosting reputation, hibiscus seed oil helps increase skin elasticity. It does this by inhibiting elastase, an enzyme that breaks down the skin's elastin. This leads to firmer, more lifted-looking skin around the eyes.
Coffee extract oil, or coffee bean oil, is a popular ingredient in eye care products because its rich caffeine content helps to reduce puffiness and dark circles. It is also packed with antioxidants that can help protect the delicate skin around the eyes from environmental damage. Caffeine is a natural vasoconstrictor, meaning it tightens blood vessels. When applied topically, this effect helps to decrease fluid retention and swelling, which temporarily minimizes the appearance of under-eye bags and puffiness. y constricting the blood vessels, caffeine can also reduce the appearance of dark under-eye circles. Many dark circles are caused by visible blood vessels beneath the thin skin in the area. Restricting blood flow makes these vessels less apparent.
Bakuchiol oil is a plant-based oil that functions as a gentler alternative to retinol (vitamin A). Bakuchiol stimulates the skin's cell turnover and boosts collagen production, which helps improve the skin's firmness and elasticity. This plumping effect can reduce the visible appearance of crow's feet and other fine lines around the eyes. Unlike retinol, bakuchiol does not cause sun sensitivity, so it can be used safely during the day.
Aloe vera is rich in water and amino acids, which help draw moisture into the skin and prevent water loss. This keeps the delicate under-eye area hydrated and plump, reducing the appearance of dryness-related fine lines.
Hyaluronic acid is an exceptionally effective hydrating ingredient for the delicate skin around the eyes. The skin around the eyes has fewer oil glands and can be prone to dryness. Hyaluronic acid (HA) holds up to 1,000 times its weight in water, which helps to hydrate, plump, and smooth the skin's surface. It is a naturally occurring substance in the skin, but its levels decrease with age.
Cucumber extract is known for its soothing, hydrating, and cooling properties, making it a common ingredient in eye care products. The benefits of applying it to the skin around the eyes come from both the extract's compounds and the cooling effect it has on contact. The high water content in cucumber extract helps to instantly hydrate the skin and fortify its natural moisture barrier. This is particularly helpful for the thin, delicate skin around the eyes, which can be prone to dryness and fine lines.
Pomegranate extract is rich in antioxidants like ellagic acid and punicalagins, which have been shown to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin. This helps to improve skin elasticity and firmness, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, including crow's feet. The extract's antioxidants, such as Vitamin C, help to brighten the skin and combat uneven skin tone caused by hyperpigmentation. Some research also indicates that pomegranate oil can specifically help to lighten dark circles under the eyes.
Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Flower Extract is derived from orange blossoms and provides soothing, antioxidant, and anti-aging benefits for the skin around the eyes. The extract is typically used in eye serums and creams to rejuvenate, brighten, and firm the delicate skin.
Sweet almond extract contains vitamin K, which can help stimulate blood microcirculation and reduce the visibility of dilated blood vessels under the eyes. Its anti-inflammatory properties can also help with some types of dark circles caused by irritation. Rich in fatty acids and vitamins A and E, sweet almond extract deeply hydrates and softens the skin. The extract also supports collagen production, improving skin elasticity and firmness. (Because FSS DERMAPEPTIDE LIFTING® PF is of plant origin and the developmental process utilizes a combination of enzymatic hydrolysis and cross-linking, this may reduce the risk of allergic reactions.)
Turmeric essential oil can help reduce the appearance of dark circles by improving microcirculation and inhibiting the synthesis of melanin, the pigment responsible for brown discoloration. Turmeric extract also aids in boosting collagen production, which improves skin elasticity and firmness.
Frankincense essential oil promotes cell regeneration and boosts collagen production, which can reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The anti-inflammatory properties can help calm swelling and puffiness under the eyes.
How to use:
To safely use eye cream, (any brand), make sure you do not get it too close to your eyes. Focus on applying it to the bone and just above the bone right below the eye. Always be very gentle. I like to tap with the pad of my finger rather than rub. I also apply it to my upper lid and between the eyebrows. Start with 1 pump or less and adjust based on your preference. For best results use it twice a day.
