My newest products have been my top sellers lately at events. That's because people see the words "pain relief" and they are instantly interested!

So many people are in pain on a regular basis. Including me! I've had a lot of people asking for magnesium spray lately. So I formulated and made that.(Magnesium Spray)

When talking with people about it, many said they wanted something to help with joint and muscle pain as well. Magnesium oil on it's own can be very powerful for pain relief. But sometimes we need more.

The first batch of the pain relief balm had magnesium oil in it but it didn't blend well and kept leaking out of the container. So, I reformulated it without the magnesium. (it was called Overnight Pain Relief Balm)

Essential oils can be the extremely effective for pain relief. The new Cool & Calm Pain Relief Muscle & Joint Balm and Cool & Calm Magnesium Spray are easy to apply and very effective for both chronic and acute pain.

Here are the essential oils and benefits of each

Lavender: The pain-relieving effects are attributed to its primary chemical components, linalool and linalyl acetate. Linalool and linalyl acetate can help block the transmission of pain signals in the peripheral nervous system, producing an anesthetic effect. It can calm the inflammatory response by modulating various inflammatory mediators and pathways. The calming properties of lavender extend to the muscular system, helping to relax certain muscles and alleviate spasms. It also affects the central nervous system, including the limbic system, to produce a calming effect, which in turn helps manage the emotional and psychological aspects of chronic pain, such as anxiety and depression.

Eucalyptus: Is beneficial for muscle and joint relief due to its anti-inflammatory and analgesic (pain-relieving) properties, primarily from the active compound 1,8-cineole. Studies have shown that both topical application and inhalation of eucalyptus oil can help reduce pain associated with conditions like arthritis, rheumatism, sprains, and muscle strains. Its analgesic properties may work by desensitizing nerve terminals and potentially involving the μ-opioid pain pathway. The anti-inflammatory effects of eucalyptus oil can help reduce swelling and discomfort in sore muscles, ligaments, and joints. Applying eucalyptus oil can promote better blood flow to the affected area, which supports healing and recovery. Clinical trials suggest that eucalyptus aromatherapy can serve as a beneficial add-on treatment for managing chronic pain in musculoskeletal disorders, potentially reducing the need for conventional painkillers.

Peppermint: Is an effective natural remedy for muscle and joint pain due to its primary active ingredient, menthol, which provides analgesic, anti-inflammatory, and antispasmodic benefits. Menthol provides a cooling sensation and acts as a local anesthetic, numbing nerve endings and distracting from pain signals. Studies suggest it can be as effective for tension headaches as some pain medications. The antispasmodic properties of peppermint oil help relax tight, tense muscles, which is beneficial for conditions like muscle strains, cramps, and myofascial pain syndrome. Peppermint oil can help reduce swelling and discomfort in joints and muscles by inhibiting pro-inflammatory mediators in the body. This makes it useful for managing symptoms of conditions like arthritis. The stimulating effect of peppermint oil can enhance blood circulation in the affected area, which promotes healing and tissue repair.

White camphor: Stimulates sensory nerve receptors, creating an initial cooling sensation followed by a warming effect. This mechanism, known as counterirritation, distracts the brain from the deeper muscle or joint pain signals. White camphor is a natural anti-inflammatory agent that helps to reduce swelling, stiffness, and pain in affected areas, making it useful for conditions like arthritis and general muscle aches. Applying the oil topically can stimulate blood flow to the area, which helps to relieve muscle tension and promote healing. It has antispasmodic effects that help relax muscles and can alleviate muscle spasms and cramping.

Turmeric: Contains curcumin, which studies suggest can help manage inflammation by modifying certain signaling pathways in the body. This action may provide a natural alternative for individuals who are sensitive to the side effects of conventional NSAIDs. When applied topically (always diluted with a carrier oil), it can act as a natural analgesic, helping to alleviate general muscle soreness, cramps, and the painful sensations associated with joint conditions. The oil is believed to boost blood circulation to the affected areas, which further aids in the recovery process and elimination of toxins. Turmeric essential oil offers strong antioxidant benefits, which combat oxidative stress that can damage cells and contribute to chronic inflammation in joints and muscles. It can be used to support the body's natural recovery process after vigorous physical activity, mitigating muscle pain and improving performance in active people.

Wintergreen: Primary benefit for pain relief stems from its main active ingredient, methyl salicylate, which has strong analgesic (pain-relieving) and anti-inflammatory properties, similar to aspirin. The high concentration (85-99%) of methyl salicylate acts as a natural numbing or counterirritant agent when applied to the skin, which helps block pain signals. It helps reduce swelling and inflammation in the underlying tissues, making it effective for conditions like arthritis, rheumatism, tendonitis, sprains, and general muscle soreness. Wintergreen increases blood flow to the affected area, creating a warming sensation that helps relax tight muscles and ease tension and spasms.

* Do not use if you are allergic to asprin or on blood thinners (due to wintergreen)

** Never use a heating pad or tightly bandage an area after applying a topical menthol or mint product. May cause burns.
