Topical magnesium offers a range of potential benefits for muscle relaxation, pain relief, and sleep improvement. Magnesium also helps balance cortisol levels and supports the release of relaxing neurotransmitters, which may help manage daily stress and anxiety. Magnesium chloride is one of the most bioavailable forms, meaning the body can readily absorb and utilize it.
Recently we switched our source of magnesium for our products. We now use magnesium from the Dead Sea. Unlike lab-synthesized magnesium flakes, Dead Sea magnesium is part of a complex of 21 natural minerals, including calcium, potassium, bromide, and sulfur. These minerals work together to enhance the magnesium's effects. The magnesium concentration in the Dead Sea is roughly 30 to 40 times higher than in standard ocean water.
Please note with any topical magnesium products (any brand) a mild tingling or stinging sensation is normal for new users and often indicates a magnesium deficiency; this typically fades with regular use.
One of our newest products is the Magnesium Spray (Unscented). Magnesium sprays are typically more concentrated than lotions or creams, providing a stronger dose of magnesium chloride per application. Because this spray is water-based and lightweight, it absorbs into the skin faster than the creams. Our spray is used to alleviate muscle soreness, tension, and cramps. Applying the spray before bed can help regulate neurotransmitters like GABA to calm the nervous system, promoting more restful sleep and easing "busy brain" or restless leg syndrome. Because magnesium chloride is a salt, this spray may cause skin dryness. Applying a lotion after it dries can help reduce the dry feeling. (or see the products below)
Magnesium alone can help reduce pain and stiffness. However, sometimes we need more! So we have also added our Pain Relief Magnesium Spray. This spray includes essential oils of lavender, eucalyptus, peppermint, white camphor, turmeric, and wintergreen. Magnesium combined with these essential oils is primarily used for targeted relief from muscle and joint pain, inflammation, and tension. It's great for both acute and chronic pain and stiffness. (Warning: it contains Wintergreen. Do not use if allergic to aspirin or on blood thinners)
Our Magnesium Cream (Unscented) has a powerful calming effect that acts as a natural muscle relaxant, helping to ease muscle cramps, soreness, and stiffness after exercise or a long day. It can be massaged into specific areas of tension like the neck, shoulders, or legs to help "dissolve stubborn knots". This cream is the same formula as our Sleep Well Foot Cream, (now called Magnesium Cream Lavender), without the lavender essential oil.
Our most popular selling product has been our Sleep Well Foot Cream. It's now called Magnesium Cream (Lavender) . We changed the name because people thought it had to be put on the feet and because it can be used for more than just sleep. Adding lavender essential oil to magnesium cream has many benefits. Both lavender and magnesium are natural relaxants that calm the nervous system. Combining them helps improve sleep onset, quality, and duration by reducing stress and supporting melatonin production. Besides helping with sleep, the aromatherapy benefits of lavender help lower cortisol levels and balance emotions, while topical magnesium helps ease physical tension. Applying the combination to temples or the neck can help manage tension headaches and reduce the frequency of migraines.
For General Relaxation & Sleep (Apply Below Waist)
Feet & Calves: The soles of the feet have large pores for absorption; massage into calves for restless legs before bed.
Stomach: Thin skin allows for good absorption, helping ease period cramps and stress.
Lower Back/Hips: Apply to aching muscles after workouts or for general discomfort.
For Energy & Stress Relief (Apply Above Waist)
Chest & Upper Arms: Can help with anxiety and support energy levels.
Neck, Shoulders, Temples: Target tension headaches, migraines, and general stress relief.
Pulse Points (Wrists/Inner Arms): Soothing for nervous tension.
Underarms: A highly absorbent area, great for systemic benefits.
For me personally, I like to apply the unscented spray to my feet then apply a small amount of the lavender cream. I also will apply both to my spine if I need extra relaxation or my spine pain is bad (from autoimmune disorder) Tim prefers it on his spine. (he uses the combination too) I apply the pain relief spray as needed to any area of discomfort. I always wash my hands after applying. The salt can be drying and magnesium is a bit tacky.
