Chamomile has many benefits for skin and hair

Chamomile and daisies are not the same flower, but they are closely related and belong to the same plant family: the Asteraceae family (also known as the daisy or sunflower family).

German Chamomile (Matricaria recutita): Known for its blue color due to the presence of chamazulene, which is formed during the steam distillation process.

Roman Chamomile (Anthemis nobilis): Has a sweeter, apple-like aroma and contains esters as its main components.

Here are the benefits of Chamomile for skin

  • Reduces inflammation and redness: Chamomile contains compounds like bisabolol and chamazulene, known for their anti-inflammatory properties, which help calm irritated skin and reduce redness associated with conditions like sensitive skin, rosacea, and acne.

  • Soothes sensitive skin: The combination of natural compounds in chamomile, including chamazulene, bisoprolol, and apigenin, are believed to soothe sensitive skin and help heal damaged skin.

  • Supports wound healing: Some studies suggest that chamomile's anti-microbial and anti-inflammatory properties can aid in the healing process of minor wounds and sunburns.

  • May help with acne: Chamomile's anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, and antioxidant properties may be beneficial for managing acne breakouts.

There are also benefits for hair and scalp. For this reason it is being added to our Scalp & Hair Serum (previously named Oil Treatment. All purchases after 6/10/25).

Here are the benefits

  • Soothes Scalp Irritation: Chamomile's anti-inflammatory properties can help calm and soothe an itchy or irritated scalp, which can contribute to a healthy scalp environment for hair growth.

  • Reduces Dandruff and Flaking: By addressing dryness and soothing scalp irritation, chamomile may help reduce dandruff and flaking.

  • Promotes Hair Growth: Chamomile is believed to support hair growth by improving blood circulation to the scalp and hair follicles, according to WeGlobe. This increased blood flow delivers essential nutrients to the scalp, which in turn, helps to nourish hair follicles and promote healthy hair growth.

  • Strengthens and Repairs Damaged Hair: The antioxidants in chamomile, such as Vitamin C and E, help to fight free radicals that can damage hair follicles and lead to hair fall. Chamomile's healing properties can also help to repair damaged hair follicles, adding strength to the hair strands.

  • Adds Shine and Softness: Chamomile oil can help to condition hair and add shine, leaving it feeling soft and looking lustrous.

  • May help with oily hair: Chamomile oil is believed to help balance the scalp's acidity, which can help regulate and control excess oil production, making hair less oily.
